MAIB Data Portal

Access to a subset of anonymised accident data from the Marine Accident Investigation Branch.

Data will be updated and republished biannually.

Use this service to:

• Filter data using our published dashboard (There is no download function, but users can screen capture the results)
• Download the most recent data sets. Three tables that can be linked with unique keys.
• Download a pre-configured data model (.pbix data set). Users will need Microsoft Power BI Desktop installed on their workstation to work with the data model. (A free version can be downloaded from Microsoft's site)​

Data quality statement:

Data is extracted from the MAIB's live case management system COMPASS once it has been checked for quality and completeness.

Data may change as new information is gathered and entered into the system. Consequently, data may change and consequently there might be minor variations between successive data sets.
