Road and Rail Investment
This map sets out road and rail investment that will be supported as a result of Spending Review 2025. It shows:
- Rail Network Enhancement Pipeline (RNEP) rail projects
- strategic road enhancements, not yet in construction, with public funding allocated
- local road schemes, including those in construction, with funding allocated
- rail schemes that will remain in our pipeline and be considered for future delivery as funding becomes available
- stations subject to a feasibility study for accessibility improvements under Access for All
- local road schemes on which the Department will be working with local authorities over the months ahead to determine their viability and affordability
Warning
Please also note that the scheme locations shown in this map are nominal and are used to show general locations – they do not represent route choices, nor where works may or may not take place.
- The vast majority of transport policy and delivery responsibilities are devolved to the Scottish Government, Welsh Government, and Northern Ireland Executive. On occasion, the UK Government may fund projects in these areas where there is a clear UK-wide strategic interest.
- The UK Government retains responsibility for certain strategic transport corridors and heavy rail infrastructure in Wales.
